Misremembered

Forgotten and lost
at great cost:
a childhood’s strewn memories.

Do not touch lest they shock,
Do not look lest they blind,
Do not listen lest you hear.

Cramped, compartmentalized, corroded
Identity flees when memory is under lock and key.
Stuffed, stabbed, stuck
Who are we?
