Put it in a blender, mark it for the sender
Jumbled, mashed-up, and afraid
Do not have to be the same
Every vein, every stain
Send away all the pain
Put it in a blender, mark it for the sender
Here I am, there you are
No C-O-D, it’s already been charged
Every cent accounted for
Interest climbed, how it soared
Plummet to the ground floor
Put it in a blender, mark it for the sender
Will it be signed for
Will it be a slammed door
Every package, every post
Rips and tears at the host
Open up, put it in
Open up, take it in
Put down every letter
Read every word
Put it in a blender, mark it for the sender
Will the load be lightened
Will the string be tightened
Do not know, cannot see
Hope no package is comin’ for me
Put it in a blender, marked it for the sender
Return mail, no such address
Does receiver exist
Put it in a blender, marked it for the sender
Taped down tight, it weighs on me
Sit on a stoop and wait for company
Put it in a blender
Put it in a blender
Put it in a blender
Pour it down the sink
Interesting.
BTW, we have an open mic night 2nd Saturday of every month. You should totally come down and read one of these days…
Oh, the loudness of my laugh at that comment. Me, reading aloud somewhere. So very funny to me. One day, maybe? A long way from here? Always happy to listen though.
It’s funny that Vance would say that. Before I even read his comment (and it’s the first time this happened reading your poetry) I visualized you reading it in front of people. Most likely because you repeated a stanza a few times. It took me back to a scene in a movie I watched a while back. Let’s pack our pipes and head to Vance’s joint — no pun intended. 😈
Superb writing as always. ❤
I will admit that this one came out loud. It’s still hard to imagine actually doing such a thing. Do you remember the movie? You have me curious.
I’d love to meet you all, pipes in hand. 🙂
Well, the most recent movie was The Baxter. But I’m sure you’ve seen the beatniks in earlier movies where they gather at these theater/clubs to read their own poetry. But instead of clapping, they snapped their fingers. 😀
