The Conceited Afflatus Named Time

The hours passed like a rainy day
Gray clouds keeping the sun away
Time halted and yet the clock leapt when left
And the light came too soon
And the sun came too bright
And the voice was quieted
Lost in the rays of sun drenched days
Till a swirl of wind and smattering of dust
Arrived with their luxurious, distressing ways
The seconds failed
The clock’s hands hidden
So long sweet summer
Salutations sonorous sidekick
